Evanston Meet Recap

Nice pic, Karin!
I just wanted to say to everyone that competed in the Evanston meet yesterday...

GREAT JOB!

We had some really impressive swims and acquired quite a few ribbons!!  It was a ton of fun having you guys at the meet, It makes all the difference in the world to have such great teammates to enjoy the day with.  We provided ILMSA with just a small glimpse of what we are capable of.  Our relays are going to be incredibly competitive as the season goes on.  We, as a team, did not place at the meet.  It has nothing to do with speed.  We had some VERY fast swims.  The only way we can be competitive as a team is to INCREASE the number of LYONS swimmers that participate.

You should NOT be afraid!  What you do everyday in practice is proof enough that you can do great and more importantly have FUN!

Thanks again to all that participated!  It was so great to be a part of that yesterday!  I had a blast.  I know you guys did too!

That being said......

OUR next meet is on February 5th in St Charles.  For more information on it, click here.

Go The Distance

Interested in tracking your yardage/mileage in 2012?

If so, consider signing up for U.S. Masters Swimming's free Go The Distance (GTD) program.

"GTD is a self-directed program intended to encourage Masters swimmers to regularly exercise and track their progress. There is no time limit for the distance milestones, except that they must be achieved in the calendar year 2012. Speed does not count - just the effort to attain whatever goal you set for yourself.

GTD is on the honor system - you track the distance you swim. Daily, weekly, or monthly, you enter that information into your online Fitness Log (FLOG). When you achieve certain milestones, ranging from 50 miles through 1500 miles, you will be recognized on the U.S. Masters Swimming website and will receive special prizes from Nike Swim, our event title sponsor for the event.

There is no cost to enter GTD. You may register for GTD through your FLOG in the My USMS section of the website. Your FLOG allows you to to track all your fitness activity, not just swimming, while simultaneously participating in GTD. Once you've entered GTD, your results are automatically included in the daily summary reports, and your milestone awards are sent directly to you."

If you have questions about signing up or participating, feel free to contact Nicole at adventuregoers@gmail.com.
